Binatone G350 Satellite Navigation System with UK and ROI Mapping
List Price: £49.99
Binatone may not be a brand that is most associated with GPS or Sat Nav. Nevertheless the Binatone 350 Sat Nav is an intriging sat nav.
The first noticeable thing about the 350 is the price. At £59.99 from Amazon (at the time of writing), it's a lot less than most comparable Garmin or TomTom units.
You still get UK and Ireland Maps and a 3.5" vibrant colour touchscreen. Surprisingly, for the price, Binatone haven't scrimped on some of the extras. The full package includes:
- Full seven digit postcode search
- Huge range of pre-programmed Points of Interest, such as petrol stations, restaurants and hotels.
- SD Card slot for extra maps
- Digital photo viewer
- Speed camera database
- USB cable to connect up to your computer
- Car mounting kit
- In-car charger
The Binatone G350 is the perfect sat nav for anyone that cares about price and value for money over brand names. Sure, it doesn't do anything better than it's more expensive cousins from Garmin and TomTom but it doesn't do them worse either.
If you plan on travelling further afield, you can purchase extra maps for Europe and North America. All you need to do is slot in the SD card with the new maps and you will have instant access. Some of the features, such as the speed camera database won't work outside the UK.
Only a couple of, small, problem with the Binatone. Firstly, is the battery life: it should be around 5 hours but it often falls short. Not a big deal, if you keep connect up the power as soon as you get in the car.
Secondly, there isn't a charger supplied as standard. You either have to charge it in the car or by using the USB cable and attaching it to a computer.
If those couple of quibbles aren't a problem for you then the Binatone 350 is a great, full-featured, budget sat nav.
