For some people, the standard 3.5" screen size of most sat nav's is a bit too small. Not only does the bigger display make it easier to see and follow the instructions, but also making selections via the touchscreen.

Now, it may seem like the 0.7" difference between the TomTom One IQ and the TomTom One XL IQ isn't that huge. However, in practice, it does make things a lot easier. Think of the numbers this way: it's a whole 20% bigger screen.
